The village of Ripley in Surrey County dates back to the Norman Invasion (St Mary Magdalen, a local church, has a chancel contructed c. 1160). It is a thriving place with many listed buildings, independent shops, hostelries and restaurants. Ripley used to be the post town of the area, but Woking took this mantle over in 1865.

It has more shopping facilities etc than nearby Send, Send Marsh and Ockham. Entertainments such as Thorpe Park and Windsor Castle are within easy travelling distance.
