How to get a mortgage - or remortgage - in Parsons Green

Parsons Green is a very pleasant, affluent area of Hammersmith and Fulham Borough in London and is around 4 miles south-west of the capital's centre.

It's mainly residential with some shopping parades. Attractions include Parson's Green Park, which gives the area its name and offers pleasant outdoor recreation and Aragon House, the Grade II listed former home of Catherine of Aragon which is well worth a visit.

The mortgage application process has 4 stages regardless of which mortgage lender you use:

  • Approval in principal (AIP)
  • Mortgage in principal (MIP)
  • Mortgage valuation
  • Mortgage Offer

Mortgage Broker Tip

Never forget the APRs

You should always be aware of the different APRs which accompany the credit cards etc. which you take up, because you need to know how much your borrowing is costing you.

Lower APRs mean lower interest payments which means the debt is cheaper to service. Conversely you should repay debt tied to higher APRs first.
Top Mortgage Lenders

Discounted Variable Rate Mortgage

These mortgages are variable rate mortgages and involve a discount from the lender's standard variable rate (SVR).

You gain from the discount but because the rate can vary, you risk it rising to a level which you can't sustain in terms of repayments. The discount often lasts for a fixed period during which you can only leave subject to a substantial early repayment charge.

Mortgage Broker Tips for the Conveyancing Process

Be wary of going on holiday

You should consider avoiding going on holiday until your conveyancing is finished, even if you instruct your solicitor to progress things in your absence.

You may have to take a particular decision, find out some information or carry out some other action resulting from your conveyancing. This may become very complicated if you are abroad. All of this can lead to delays.

At the very least, you should ensure that you've already provided your solicitor with your proof of ID & proof of funds and that they know you are away, when you are coming back and how to contact you.
