How to get a mortgage - or remortgage - in Perry Barr

Perry Barr is a suburb of Birmingham as well as the name of a council constituency. ‘Perry’ is derived from the Latin word ‘parva’ meaning ‘small’, and ‘Barr’ derives from the Gaelic 'barr' meaning ‘hill’. The area was home to the football team Aston Villa from 1876 to 1897 at the football ground on Wellington Road.

Perry Barr used to be an urban district in Staffordshire from 1894 to 1928, but it is now considered to be incorporated into Birmingham. It has now been settled to be thought of as part of the West Midlands since 1974.

Notable places in Perry Barr include Birmingham’s Aston Technical College, the Aston Manor Cricket Club and the One Stop Shopping Centre.

The mortgage application process has 4 stages regardless of which mortgage lender you use:

  • Approval in principal (AIP)
  • Mortgage in principal (MIP)
  • Mortgage valuation
  • Mortgage Offer

Mortgage Broker Tip

Remove financial links to previous partners

Your credit rating may decrease if you are still linked to both business and life partners you no longer have financial connections with. The suspect history of someone you have had shared finances with can affect your credit score.

Write to your reference agency and ask for a notice of disassociation.

Flexible Mortgage

To get flexibility you may not have to get a particular mortgage product – for example you can often leave a variable rate mortgage without a heft early repayment charge. You need to be aware you will pay extra for flexibility so ensure you will get the most from its benefits.

What are the benefits?
The benefits include overpaying, underpaying, taking payment holidays, making lump sum withdrawals and paying off mortgages early.

Mortgage Broker Tips for the Conveyancing Process

Get together all the required official paperwork you'll need for your conveyancing..

  • For ID purposes, you'll normally require an up-to-date passport and/or driving licence with a current home address.
  • You'll need to provide proof of funds; as an employee, you'll need at least the last 3 months' payslips and a P60; if you're self-employed, you'll need your SA302 from HMRC (you need to allow for a time lapse if you have to order this) or accounts covering the last 3 years.
  • If you're selling, you need any relevant documents detailing planning consents or building regulation approval and any guarantees for works or fittings and things like boiler safety certificates..
