How to get a mortgage - or remortgage - in Solihull


Solihull is a large town situated just outside Birmingham (10 miles southeast of it). It is 14 miles west of Coventry, 17 miles north of Stratford-upon-Avon and 32 miles northeast of Worcester. Solihull is the most opulent town in the United Kingdom, excluding London. In 2013 it was named ‘the best place to live’ by the uSwitch Quality of Life Index.

The origin of the name is thought to come from the phrase a ‘soily hill’ because the parish church resided on a hill of marl that turned to mud when wet.

Cappted Rate Mortgage

This type of mortgage is one where you have the security that your mortgage repayments will not increase over a certain amount. It is a type of variable rate mortgage and so your repayments will go up and down, but only up to a capped value.

The interest rate is based on the lender’s standard variable rate (SVR) so if that goes down, as will your repayments. You need to ensure you can afford the capped rate should the rate reach it.
