How to get a mortgage - or remortgage - in Upminster


Upminster town is east of central London by around 17 miles. It has a good mix of shopping and residential areas. Its proximity to Hornchurch allows for many cultural activities to be enjoyed (large theatre and arts spaces), also, Romford is close, with its many entertainments. Upminster has a smock windmill in St Marys Lane which is one of only nine surviving windmills in Greater London. You can improve your credit rating by taking out a credit builder prepaid card. You normally have to pay a nominal monthly fee, perhaps £5, which you have to keep paying for 12 months.

When you've made all your repayments over the 12 months, the company issuing the card adds an entry to your credit file stating that you successfully repaid a debt. Additionally, you don't need a credit reference to take such a card out – this is because you're not borrowing on it.

Getting financial help towards your deposit from a family member?

To save yourself delays in the conveyancing process further down the line:

1 The family member must decide whether it's a gift or a loan.
2 If it's a gift, you must ensure that the person gifting fills out a gifted deposit letter with the correct information.

The correct information must be set down and the letter must be signed by witnesses. The giver will also have to provide ID and proof of funds. If the giver isn't a family member, you must tell your mortgage lender as this can sometimes cause issues.
