Pay off debts with savings

Information about any debt you owe to lenders and institutions can be accessed by other lenders and too much debt held generally lessens your credit score.

It invariably makes sense to pay off debts using your savings; the chances are any returns you make on savings are likely to be smaller than the interest and charges you have to pay for holding debt.

Remortgage

You get a remortgage when you've already got a mortgage in place and you want to either change mortgages, pay off an equity loan or need a cash advance for some purpose. A classic situation is when you're coming to the end of your fixed rate term on a mortgage and want a new fix because of the expense of ending up having to pay your lender's standard variable interest rate otherwise.

Paignton is a seaside town and together with nearby Torquay and Brixham it forms the borough of Torbay which is often referred to as the English Riviera. It originated as a Celtic settlement and had a mention in the 1086 Domesday Book. It was initially a fishing village but it expanded rapidly with the arrival of the railway in 1859, merging with the villages of Goodrington and Preston. It continues to be a popular seaside destination.

Landmarks and attractions include the Torbay Picture House, Paignton Beach, Preston Sands, Paignton Pier, Oldway Mansion, the Festival Theatre, Paignton Zoo, the Dartmouth Steam Railway, Regatta Week and the Torbay Air Show.

Paignton Mortgage Broker Insider Tips

Get all your signed documentation to your solicitor in advance, if you want to give yourself more chance of a faster conveyancing process in Paignton.

Your conveyancing solicitor can't exchange contracts with the other side until they receive your mortgage deed, transfer deed, signed contract and so on. Originals of these documents, or at least some originals may be required by your solicitor and if so, you may need to post them.

It's a good idea, if you have to use Royal Mail, to send as much correspondence as you can together and make sure to use recorded delivery. This way, the documents can be tracked and you can find out when your mail was received and who signed for it. This is never best left to chance - you might lose your documents, which will slow down your conveyancing considerably and you will have to wait for replacements, into the bargain.
