First time buyer mortgageFirst time buyer mortgages are those which are constructed to appeal particularly to those buying homes for the first time. Some lenders provide incentives such as cashback – a cash lump sum when you've just moved in is perhaps more likely to be attractive to a first time buyer who might have less property etc. than a home mover who has much of the fixtures and fittings to put in place in their new home already bought over the years. Fixed term mortgages are another example of a device which can be very marketable towards first time buyers. They take these out to have the security of knowing exactly how much they'll need each month to make their repayments. They have to remember to organise a new fixed term when the initial one expires to avoid going on a lender's standard variable rate, but the incentive of saving cash through organising this, perhaps by selecting a new mortgage provider, is arguably likely to appeal as well. |
