Can I negotiate the price with the seller’s solicitor?

Within the survey report there will be a section for your legal advisor. If there are any defects spotted at the property that require further attention it will be noted in this section of the report and your solicitor can flag these with in her enquiries.

Should there be any issues raised by your building surveyor that will be costly in the future, you can discuss options with the seller. It’s typical to negotiate one of two resolutions: either the seller agrees to accept a lower offer price for the property, or they agree to carry out the required repairs as a condition of the sale. In the latter case, this agreement would usually be confirmed in writing as part of the legal contract. Make sure that all correspondence regarding negotiations with the sellers is agreed by both solicitors.
