Keep your personal debt to a minimum

Stating the obvious maybe and far easier to say than to do but you will do far more for yourself than improve your credit score if you do this.

Credit cards certainly have their uses but can easily be overused. You should ensure that you are paying as little as you can for their use by keeping their balances down, ensuring you make the correct repayments and by sensibly shifting balances to cards which carry less interest (while not maxing out any particular card). Additionally you should pay off debts before you save money as a general rule.

Discount Mortgage

Discount mortgages are a subsection within variable rate mortgages with the discount being applied to the lender's standard variable rate (SVR), which is itself linked to the Bank of England's base rate, although the lender can chose to alter its SVR autonomously.

You benefit from the discount although you are taking a risk that the rate won't suddenly increase, leaving you with increased repayments regardless of your discount. You should also be aware that the discount normally operates for a fixed period of time. Once this period has elapsed, you are placed onto the lender's SVR although you can change mortgages and/or mortgage providers at any point. During the time of the fix, however, there are likely to be large repayment charges levied if you opt to leave early.

Brookwood is a town in Woking Borough in Surrey. It's near the Princess Royal Barracks in Deepcut and it borders the Basingstoke Canal which has a flight of locks in the locale. The Church of St Edward the Martyr is a local landmark; established in 1982 and is located in the huge Brookwood Cemetery. If clay pigeon shooting is your thing, then the National Clay Shooting Centre in the town is probably well worth a visit!

Brookwood Mortgage Broker Insider Tips

Buying a home? Consider instructing a solicitor before anything else!

When you're looking to buy a home, it's a given that you'll be using a conveyancing solicitor (unless you're willing to risk a vast sum of money without the benefit of legal protection and expertise!).

Because the solicitor has to set up a file for you and you have to fill out forms and prove your ID/source of funds etc., the sooner you can do this, the more time you can save.

You do not have to have even picked out a property and made an offer at this stage! Ideally, you'll have applied for a mortgage and received a mortgage in principle, so you'll be in a position to look for houses within your budget range.

Matters like booking your mortgage valuation, booking a survey and getting searches can only occur once you've had an offer accepted, however instructing a solicitor is not dependent on this.

One advantage of this approach is that when it comes to putting in offers to vendors, telling them that you've already instructed your solicitor shows them that you're 'ready to go' and likely to be on the ball regarding the progress of any sale and a faster completion.
