Don't use unauthorised overdraft facilities

If you've set up an authorised overdraft facility with a bank, don't exceed your limit. Fees and interest charged on unauthorised overdrafts are generally extortionate and can damage your credit rating.

You should either restrict your outgoings to keep within your limit or, if you have to, find a cheaper source of finance, such as a loan.

Family Offset Mortgage

These mortgages, which are a type of offset mortgage, typically involve family members placing their savings into an account linked with the mortgagor's mortgage, and their savings interest is deducted from the mortgage interest, making the mortgage cheaper.

The lender often requires that the savings are 'locked in' for some considerable time (can be many years) until, for example, 75% of the mortgage is paid off. During this time, the family members cannot use the savings interest as income at all – it is tied in to being deducted from the mortgage.

Chertsey is a town in Runnymede Borough in Surrey on the River Thames. It has a pleasant look and feel with 18th Century listed buildings, a traditional high street and pubs and cafes. Chertsey Bridge and the Church of St Peter are landmarks. Virginia Water, Thorpe Park and Windsor Great Park are nearby attractions and there's plenty of excellent open spaces.

Chertsey Mortgage Broker Insider Tips

For fast conveyancing in Chertsey, the trick is to choose the right solicitor from the outset.

  • Whilst this may seem like an obvious one, it's not just the standard of reviews that means a solicitor is good. It is also the volume of work.
  • You need someone who values high communication levels and will work with your best interests in mind at all times. If a solicitor is overworked, your case may get overlooked, which can increase the chance of delays and poor prioritisation of clients.
  • At SAM Conveyancing we aim for completion within 6-8 weeks. For us, we make sure your deadline is as achievable as possible.
