For those who prefer to live in the surrounding areas, the nearby villages of Merrow, Burpham and East Horsley are very pretty, and with lower property prices than in the centre of Guildford. Also worthy of mention is Loseley Park, which has an Elizabethan house, beautiful grounds and period furnishings - it is a very popular venue to hire for weddings and it has its own chapel.
There are lovely walks to be had in the area, such as around Newlands Corner, Guildford Castle and Stoke Park. Also with the Surrey Hills keen ramblers and regular cyclists can stumble on many different places of interest.
