How to get a mortgage - or remortgage - in Hounslow

Hounslow is the principal town in London's Harrow Borough, located 11 miles west south-west of London's centre. It has many amenities including the Treaty Shopping Centre, a large shopping area, and is just four miles from Heathrow Airport, a major employer in the area. Hounslow Heath is a local nature reserve and places to visit include Bedfont Lakes Country Park, in Clockhouse Lane, which hosts a plethora of outdoor activities and Hounslow Urban Farm, found on Faggs Road, which is great for younger children. New London College can be found on the Staines Road which specialises in IT.

The mortgage application process has 4 stages regardless of which mortgage lender you use:

  • Approval in principal (AIP)
  • Mortgage in principal (MIP)
  • Mortgage valuation
  • Mortgage Offer

Mortgage Broker Tip

Don't make multiple applications for credit

If you apply for lots of credit then every company you apply to will check your credit file. This could indicate that you are desperate for money and will have an impact on your credit score. Banks and building societies even check your credit score when you open a bank account.

Don’t worry, checking your credit score through Experian, Equifax or CallCredit will not affect your credit score.

Mortgage Broker Tips for the Conveyancing Process

Buyer? If you have specific enquiries you wish to ask the seller, get these over as quickly as possible through your solicitor.

Many enquiries are easy to answer but others will require the seller to produce specific documentation which they may have to obtain from third parties.

The sooner you get your own enquiries to the seller through your solicitor, the less opportunity there is for delays.
