What happened to The Foster Partnership?

The Foster Partnership were a conveyancing firm who were regulated by the Council for Licensed Conveyancers (CLC) and handled conveyancing work including sales, purchases, remortgages and transfer of equity. The company started trading in 2015 and its business was built on referrals from local estate agents in Kent and with local developers.

The cause of the intervention seems to relate to problems identified during the company's 2018 annual regulatory audit. The Negotiator Reported:

"Problems were identified at the conveyancing company when, during a 2018 annual regulatory audit, breaches of the company’s professional rules were uncovered including serious accounting errors. These were reported to the CLC."

The Foster Partnership operated from:

  • 28 Cavendish Street, Ramsgate, Kent, CT11 9AL
  • 67 High Street, Herne Bay, Kent, CT6 5LQ
  • 46 High Street, Broadstairs, Kent, CT10 0JT
  • Auction Department, 1st Floor, 2 Cecil Square, Kent, CT9 1BD

Mr Edward Richard Foster is still the Director of the company however the following directors terminated their appointment in the last few months before the CLC intervention on the 17th October 2019; Christina Susan Foster, Jane Somerville Baird, Trevor Gary Huffey and Maria Alethea Homewood.

A number of employees of the Foster Partnership have also won an Employment Tribunal case against the company in April 2020. One of the Claimants, Mr Paul Dickinson, was awarded by the Tribunal £50,631. Read more on this case here - Paul Dickinson v The Foster Partnership Ltd: 2304750/2019
