Godalming is a pretty market town and the administrative centre of Waverley Borough in Surrey County. It is 30 miles southwest of London and is highly affluent, frequently performing well in rankings of desirable places to live in the UK. A fair part of the town's appeal is its transport communications.
Nearby attractions include the Winkworth Arboretum (in Hascombe Road), a protected hillside, National Trust garden, woodland & lake, which is a great place to take the family, and Oakhurst Cottage, a tiny 16th century cottage in Hambledon, owned by the National Trust, which is a brilliant example of a traditional Surrey labourer's cottage and has been well-preserved.
The A3, linking London and Portsmouth, is nearby, as is the A31 (links Guildford and Winchester). Godalming railway station is on the direct line between London and Portsmouth.

Surrey is located in the south east of England and is well known for its high property prices and leafy areas. Guildford is the county town, however Surrey County Council can be found just up the A3 in the neighbouring town Kingston Upon Thames. It was in Dorking in Surrey at the White Horse where Charles Dickens wrote much of his Pickwick Papers and apparently based many of the characters on local people
The University of Surrey can be found in Guildford, however Surrey also hosts the Royal Holloway University of London (Egham), University of Law & Kingston University. HG Wells, writer of War of the Worlds, lived at Horsell Common in Woking in Surrey when he wrote the book and this is where, in the book, the Martians first land on Earth.

Godalming Conveyancing Solicitor fees dramatically vary depending on whether you approach an online conveyancing solicitor, a high street conveyancer or housing solicitors introduced by your estate agent.
The actual conveyancing costs, outside of the legal work, should be fixed as they are set including:
For buyers: stamp duty, land registration, property searches, ID searches and leasehold charges (if buying a leasehold property).
For sellers: office copies, title plan and management information (if selling a leasehold property).
It is important to make sure when budgeting the costs of moving home that you factor in all of the above conveyancing costs and ensure you get a fixed fee conveyancing quote from your chosen local solicitors or licensed conveyancer.
Buying a property can be one of the largest investments that you will make. The last thing you want is to find that there is something that could threaten or reduce the value of your recent purchase. When you buy a property, it can sometimes be the largest investment you make.
By ordering searches from the Waverley Borough Council, you can effectively investigate any risks or threats which may affect the property. These can include flood risks, planning permissions, subsidence, radon gas seepage and preservation orders.
Therefore, we recommend that you book at least four searches; environmental, local authority, drainage and chancel repair. If these searches flag up any additional searches which may be needed, your conveyancing solicitor can advise you on these. For example, Â Flood Risk, Mining or HS2 Report.
