Selling or buying a home with our Long Eaton Conveyancing Solicitors

Long Eaton is a town in Derbyshire, England, located around 11 kilometres south-west of Nottingham. There are a lot of historical buildings in this town that were built during various centuries. One of the oldest is the Parish Church of St Laurence which is estimated to have been constructed in the 11th century, possibly during the time of Viking King Cnut. Initially, it was a daughter church of All Saints, Sawley. In the 19th century, it was able to achieve an independent status. Another important historical structure is the Harrington Mill. It is an 1885 mill for lace manufacturing, considered to be one of the biggest of its kind. Long Eaton was a centre for lace manufacture during the 1900s. At around 1907, the town had 1,400 lace machines and 4,000 people were involved in the industry. Harrington Mill is a built heritage of that town’s era, and is notable for being constructed out of 250,000 bricks by an association of manufacturers.

Derbyshire is a county in the East Midlands of England and contains much of the Peak District national park, the south end of the Pennines and the a portion of the National Forest. It is composed in large part of sparsely populated agricultural land. Adjacent counties include Greater Manchester, West Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Staffordshire and Cheshire.

Derby city is the most populated conurbation in the county and Derby is also the main transport hub, offering direct train services to London St Pancras International. Derby is also host to the University of Derby. The next largest town is Chesterfield. There is one motorway in the locale – the M1 – and the nearest large airport is East Midlands Airport, close to the county's southern border.

Attractions include Bolsover Castle, Castleton, Chatsworth House and the National Tramway Museum at Crich. Hardwick Hall near Chesterfield is a superb Elizabethan country house, fascinating from an architectural perspective.

Derbyshire County Cricket Club's alumni include former England fast bowler, Devon Malcolm. Little John, Robin Hood’s right hand, is buried in a huge grave at the church in Hathersage.
