The Terrace is a road with very old riverside housing, containing Georgian mansions along the River Thames' west bend. The area between Lonsdale Road and Castlenau has a council estate built in the 1930s in roads such as Stillingfleet Road, Washington Road and Nowell Road. Castelnau itself also has early Victorian villas and Lonsdale Road has large Edwardian houses as well as Edwardian later and terrace houses.
