Tenby is a quaint seaside town in Pembrokeshire, with four main beaches – North Beach, Castle Beach, Harbour Beach and South Beach. It is a walled town with walls dating back to the 13th century. It has a beautiful harbour which makes Tenby a popular getaway destination.

Boat trips to Caldey Island are available from Tenby, which one of the holy islands of Britain. Other landmarks include Tenby Castle which stands on a headland separated by an isthmus (a narrow piece of land) from the town itself.

It is the most westerly county in Wales and is bordered by the St Georges Channel with Carmarthenshire to the east and Cardiganshire to the north. It is a largely rural county but is home to towns such as Haverfordwest, which is its county town, and Pembroke. Haverfordwest is the most populous town in Pembrokeshire with a population of roughly 12,000 people (2011).

By and large, Pembrokeshire is an English-speaking county, however many inhabitants of the county speak Welsh. There are more Welsh-speakers in the north of the county and fewer in the south.

There are no motorways in the county – the principal trunk roads are the A40 and the A477. Many towns in Pembrokeshire have local bus and train services. Some train services from the county have direct trains to Manchester Piccadilly.
