Top tips for a Haggerston Home Buyers Survey
Haggerston is an area of East London in Hackney Borough and is technically part of Shoreditch and therefore the East End proper. It grew significantly when the Regent's Canal arrived in 1820. Its northern boundary is Middleton Road, its southern boundary is Hackney Road and contains two major roads running north-south: Queensbridge Road and Kingsland Road.
Haggerston has an interesting mix of Georgian and early Victorian houses, warehouse conversions and new flats alongside social housing estates. Kingsland Basin has new flats and excellent period conversions. Albion Square has semi-detached houses dating from the 1840s, built in yellow or grey brick with stucco detailing and it and the surround streets have many smaller flat-fronted Victorian houses.
New build developments include The City Mills, a development of 760 mixed-tenure homes on both banks of Regent’s Canal; on the south bank it is off Whiston Road and on the north side it sits between Haggerston Road and Clarissa Street; and Mettle & Poise in Hackney Road, the redevelopment of the former Queen Elizabeth Hospital for Children.

The historic façade is retained but now containing 188 one-, two- and three-bedroom flats, with around 2/3 sold on the open market sale and the remainder sold via shared ownership and rent through a housing association.
