Wakefield is a city in West Yorkshire and it was particularly active in the corn, coal and textile trades in the 18th century. Its parish church became a cathedral in 1888.

Properties in Wakefield built close to major water courses such as the River Calder and Ings Beck, in streets such as Avondale Street and Thornes Lane, are in an area where flood warnings and alerts are issued from time to time. If you are concerned that a property you are looking to buy is in a flood risk area, you should consider getting a flood risk report (click for more details). | Properties sometimes have issues with ground stability in certain locations in Wakefield.
