York, known as Eboracum to the Romans, is a historic walled city in North Yorkshire and the traditional county town of Yorkshire. It has a rich history and in particular it hosts York Minster, a large Gothic cathedral, which has been rebuilt and redeveloped many times and dates back at least to the 7th century.

The city has many medieval streets with cobbles and some surviving properties and many remaining Georgian town houses and buildings as well as Victorian large houses, villas and terraces.
