Its Crossrail station is set to open in 2018.
A small number of period houses are in the area behind the Royal London Hospital. Elsewhere, there is a mix of period properties and conversion flats, such as in Philpot Street, often above commercial premises, converted warehouses, modern flats and right-to-buy former council flats.
New build developments include Goodman's Fields, a development of 1,053 studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom flats and penthouses arranged in a medium-rise block and three tower blocks of between 17 and 22 storeys. Some 35 per cent are priced as affordable.
Aldgate Place is another new development, of 463 studios, one-, two- and three-bedroom flats arranged over six blocks ranging in height from six to 25 storeys. Both developments can be found in the area around Aldgate East tube station.

Home Buyers Survey - What does it cover?
A Home Buyers Survey is completed by a qualified RICS surveyor and delivers a visual inspection of the property in Whitechapel and the surrounding garden. The aim of the survey, whether a Building Survey (which used to be known as a Full Structural Survey) or a HomeBuyers Report, is to identify potential risks or defects that you may not know are there such as cracks or damage to the structure of the property, subsidence, damp and infestations.
