Top tips for a Tadley Home Buyers Survey

Tadley is a town in Hampshire which has some period housing but the vast majority was built in the 1950s and 1960s. There are a number of new estates in Tadley and Baughurst. Both older (1920s and 1930s) and new estates are well planned with large gardens and plenty of woodland and open space. In addition there are old peoples flats, some council houses and caravans.

Outside Tadley and Baughurst the area is sparsely populated. A small council estate in Brimpton and the hamlet of Brimpton Common are the only major centres of population. Every size and shape of house from the mansion to one bedroom bungalows are represented, however. A few small cottages still exist but mainly they are the larger, modern five bed, three bath types or 'three-knocked-into-one' cottages.

New build developments include those in West Street and Ravenswing Park, with everything from detached houses to park homes.

Raised levels of noise pollution from roads in the Tadley area mainly centre around the main road – A340, Mulfords Hill, impacting roads and streets such as Elmhurst and Gorselands.

HampshireHampshire is a large county in southern england with the south coast as one of its frontiers. Some 85% of its land mass is classed as rural. Its county town is Winchester although this town's population is dwarfed by the cities of Southampton and Portsmouth, which are part of the ceremonial county of Hampshire but not the non-metropolitan county. Other major population centres include Basingstoke, Gosport, Waterlooville, Fareham, Aldershot, Farnborough and Eastleigh.

Hampshire contains the national parks of the South Downs and the New Forest and these cover some 45% of the county's area. The River Test is well known for its growing number of otters. The county contains many seaside resorts, including Hayling Island. Adjacent counties include West Sussex, Berkshire, Surrey, Wiltshire and Dorset. It is the birthplace of world-famous literary figures Charles Dickens and Jane Austen.

What equipment does a surveyor use?

RICS Surveyors are equipped with a core set of devices and tools to assist in their inspections of properties that are geared towards uncovering defects which may affect the property’s value or the buyers decision.

The equipment can be split into categories such as; equipment for recording information, measuring equipment, equipment for assessing remote and concealed areas and Health and Safety equipment.

Additional tools can include large screwdrivers, hammers, small crowbars, bolsters, mirrors on extendable poles, borescopes (or boroscopes - tools which allow remote visual inspection of entities such as drains and pipes) and metal detectors to help provide in-depth reports to clients prior to them exchanging contracts.
