Top tips for a Eltham Home Buyers Survey
Eltham was essentially a rural area which expanded rapidly when the railway arrived in 1895. Eltham Palace is its most notable landmark, dates from the 13th century but has been significantly redeveloped over the centuries, particularly in Tudor times and latterly in the 1930s.
Cameron Corbett bought the Eltham Park Estate and developed the village streets around the palace with well-built suburban housing between 1900 and 1914 (essentially the Edwardian period). Municipal housing was developed further after that, particularly to house wartime workers in the Royal Arsenal at Woolwich. The Progress Estate consisted of council housing built to a good standard.
Today's housing is very mixed, with, for example, cottages built around 1800; villas and terrace houses existing there since the 1880s and plenty of standard construction semi-detached houses built between the 1930s and 1960s.

Purpose-built flats built in the 1980s replaced many of the original Victorian villas and there are, here and there, very modern developments, such as Quilters Place which has offered shared ownership.

The raised Radon area has a maximum radon potential of 1 – 3% (the percentage is the chance of a property being built where Radon emissions might measure above the action level). Home Buyers Survey - What does it cover?
A Home Buyers Survey is completed by a qualified RICS surveyor and delivers a visual inspection of the property in Eltham and the surrounding garden. The aim of the survey, whether a Building Survey (which used to be known as a Full Structural Survey) or a HomeBuyers Report, is to identify potential risks or defects that you may not know are there such as cracks or damage to the structure of the property, subsidence, damp and infestations.
